Duplicating a Repository with the mirror Option

When working on a team project, we often create an organization and collaborate in a repository within it.

After the project ends, you may want a complete copy of that repository under your own ownership.

You can fork it, but that approach has the drawback of having to continue managing the original repository.

Here is how to copy a repository into your own GitHub account using the --mirror option.

Create a new repository to receive a copy of the existing one.

Open the new repository and check that the push completed correctly.

Also verify that the commit history was copied as expected.
